BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — DATELINE: BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Mostly sunny skies lead the way in Boca Raton today with a high near 80 and only a small chance of a brief shower. Winds stay light this morning, then turn southeast at 5 to 10 mph this afternoon as the sea breeze kicks in. The bigger story is at the beach and offshore: a swell is keeping seas elevated and rip currents a concern along the Atlantic coast. Tonight turns partly cloudy and mild, with lows around 69
South Florida is in a “between systems” setup this morning, and that’s why Boca Raton’s forecast looks calm on land but more active on the water. The National Weather Service notes a weakening front is stalled north of Lake Okeechobee while a dip in the atmosphere (a trough) slides across the peninsula today and tonight.
That combination keeps winds fairly light and driven by the daily sea breeze, rather than a strong, steady wind. For Boca Raton, that points to a mostly dry day with plenty of sun and a warm afternoon near 80 degrees.
Moisture is higher closer to the front near and west of Lake Okeechobee, so the best chance for any isolated showers or a thunderstorm stays well inland and north of Boca later today. Locally, the odds of a quick shower are low, and most neighborhoods should stay rain-free.
Late week, the pattern turns even more stable. High pressure builds back in, which typically means more sunshine, a light-to-moderate easterly breeze, and warm afternoons.
Boaters and beachgoers should pay closer attention than drivers today. The Atlantic waters off Boca Raton remain choppy with a northeasterly swell, and seas are running about 4 to 6 feet with occasional sets up to 8 feet.
A Small Craft Advisory is in effect through late tonight for the nearby Atlantic waters, and conditions gradually improve into Thursday as seas ease. Winds are generally light early, becoming a modest southeast to east breeze later today and Thursday.
Even with lighter winds, the swell can keep surf rough and increase the risk of rip currents. If you’re heading to the beach, swim near lifeguards and avoid venturing out on sandbars or near inlets where currents can be stronger.
Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings
