BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Wednesday, June 3, 2026 DATELINE: BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Expect a mostly cloudy, breezy day with showers and thunderstorms likely, especially through the afternoon and into the evening. Some storms may drop heavy rain in a short time, which could lead to localized street flooding in poor-drainage spots. High temperatures top out near 83 with a northeast breeze building later today. Beach conditions turn hazardous this afternoon with a high rip current risk, and boating conditions deteriorate tonight as seas build

South Florida is starting Wednesday in a very moist, “loaded” atmosphere, and that sets the stage for another active rain day in Boca Raton. The National Weather Service notes a front sliding south toward the region today, with a small area of low pressure offshore helping to tug that boundary closer.

The big local impacts from that setup are twofold: higher rain chances and a noticeable increase in onshore (northeast) winds. For rain, the key point is that the air over us is already saturated, and the front is moving slowly.

When storms form in that kind of environment, they can repeatedly track over the same areas or linger near the boundary. Forecast guidance shows a wide range of outcomes, from a more steady, lighter rain pattern to pockets of much heavier totals.

Because Boca is highly urbanized, even a short burst of intense rain can overwhelm drainage and create localized urban flooding. The Weather Prediction Center has highlighted the east coast metro in a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall today, which matches that “isolated but impactful” flooding concern.

Boaters and beachgoers should plan for worsening conditions from this afternoon through Thursday. Northeast winds increase to around 15–20 knots on the Atlantic waters, with gusts near 25 knots at times, and seas build rapidly.

Offshore, Gulf Stream waters may reach 7–9 feet (occasionally higher), and even the nearshore and intracoastal waters turn choppy in exposed areas. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the Atlantic waters near Boca Raton beginning this afternoon, and conditions remain hazardous into Thursday.

For the beach, the onshore wind and building northeast swell support a high rip current risk this afternoon through at least Thursday evening in Palm Beach County. If you’re heading to the sand, stay near lifeguards and avoid swimming in unguarded areas.
