Today's Weather - Sunday, June 28, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL — Expect a hot, mostly sunny Sunday with only a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm, mainly late morning through the afternoon. Highs reach around 90, but it will feel closer to 100–103 at times. A steady southeast breeze will keep the beach areas a bit more comfortable than inland spots, but the heat will still be a factor. Tonight stays mostly clear and warm near 81, with a quieter pattern continuing into Monday before storm chances ramp up again later in the week

South Florida stays under the influence of broad high pressure today, and that’s a big reason we’ll see plenty of sun and a familiar summer setup. With high pressure nearby at both the surface and higher in the atmosphere, winds remain generally out of the southeast.

That wind direction helps push the Atlantic sea breeze inland during the early afternoon, which is often the “spark” that gets showers and thunderstorms going. For Boca Raton specifically, the National Weather Service keeps rain chances on the low side today (around 20%), but it’s not zero.

The atmosphere still has enough moisture and energy for storms to pop up, especially as sea-breeze boundaries and leftover storm outflows bump into each other. While the best coverage is expected over interior and western areas, a few storms can still form near the Atlantic metro corridor early in the afternoon or drift back toward the coast later.

Any storm that develops can bring frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, brief strong wind gusts, and a quick burst of heavy rain that can flood low spots. The bigger, more widespread impact is heat.

Boating conditions off Boca Raton and up toward Deerfield/Jupiter look generally manageable today and Monday, with southeast winds around 5–10 knots and seas around 2 feet early, dropping to 1 foot or less at times. The Intracoastal should run light chop.

The main marine concern is thunderstorms: even with low coverage today, any storm can produce sudden gusty winds, rougher seas, and dangerous lightning. If you hear thunder, head for safe harbor.

As storm chances increase later in the week, expect more frequent storm-related hazards near the coast during the afternoon and early evening.
