BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A href="https://bocapost.com/boca-raton-news/">BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton will be mostly cloudy and breezy today, with a high near 83 and an east wind around 15–17 mph gusting over 20 mph. A few showers or thunderstorms are possible, mainly mid-afternoon, but not everyone will see rain. If a storm does develop, it can drop a quick burst of heavy rain and create brief street flooding in poor-drainage spots. Beach conditions remain dangerous with a high rip current risk along the Atlantic shoreline through Friday evening

South Florida’s weather pattern today is being shaped by a front that has stalled near the Florida Keys, leaving a sharp contrast in air masses across the region. Drier, more comfortable air has been filtering into parts of the interior and west side, while the east coast metro—including Broward and southern Palm Beach County—remains on the humid side with enough moisture for downpours.

The National Weather Service notes that showers have been able to repeatedly redevelop near the coast because the onshore breeze slows and “piles up” air along the shoreline. In plain terms, that creates a narrow zone where air is forced upward, helping clouds and storms keep rebuilding over the same general areas.

While the heaviest rain earlier focused farther south, the atmosphere is still capable of producing localized heavy rain today. For Boca Raton, the day is expected to stay mostly cloudy with a steady east breeze.

The best window for a shower or thunderstorm is mid-afternoon (roughly 2–4 p.m.), with rain chances around 30%. Any storm that forms could be slow-moving and briefly intense, so watch for ponding on roads, especially where drains are clogged or where the ground is already wet.

Hazardous boating and beach conditions continue today. Northeast to east-northeast winds remain breezy, and Atlantic seas stay elevated—especially offshore near the Gulf Stream—where waves can run 7 to 8 feet (occasionally higher).

Nearshore waters and the Intracoastal will be choppy in exposed areas, and conditions can worsen quickly in any passing thunderstorm. For the beach, the onshore wind and persistent northeast swell will keep a high rip current risk at east coast beaches through Friday evening.

If you’re heading to the sand, swim near a lifeguard and avoid entering the water if you’re not a strong swimmer.
