FLORIDA — A Florida Silver Alert has been issued for an 81-year-old man reported missing from Lakeland, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

FDLE identified the missing person as Jimmie Drury, 81, of Lakeland in Polk County. The alert is intended to help locate him and get information quickly to law enforcement.

Drury is described as a white male with gray hair and green eyes. He is listed as 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 180 pounds.

FDLE said Drury was last known to be in the Lakeland area. A vehicle associated with the alert is a 1993 Chevrolet C/K1500 with Florida tag KD833D.

For South Florida residents, the key point is that Silver Alerts are broadcast statewide, and people far from the last known area can still play a role because vehicles and missing adults can travel across county lines. Drivers, parking lot attendants, store employees, and anyone who sees the listed vehicle or a person matching the description are asked to report it.

Authority for the investigation and tips sits with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at 863-298-6200 or call 911.

FDLE’s official flyer for the Silver Alert is posted online at http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/MCICSearch/Flyer.asp?ID=518068. Residents should watch for updates from FDLE and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office as the search continues.
