BOCA RATON, FL — A Boca Raton psychiatry practice and a psychiatrist are named in a civil lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court alleging misconduct during virtual psychiatric treatment sessions, according to a complaint reviewed by Boca Post.
The complaint was filed May 29, 2026, in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County. The case is listed as Case No. 502026CA006036XXXAMB and names Boca Raton Psychiatry, LLC and Andrew L. Sorial, M.D. as defendants.
The plaintiff’s name is redacted in the filing. The complaint states that the plaintiff is an adult woman and that she is identified by a pseudonym because the lawsuit involves intimate facts related to alleged sexual misconduct.
The lawsuit says Boca Raton Psychiatry, LLC had a principal place of business at 9980 N. Central Park Blvd. in Boca Raton. The complaint says Sorial was employed as a psychiatrist at the practice during the period at issue.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a psychiatric patient of Sorial from 2023 to 2025, and her appointments were conducted virtually.
The lawsuit alleges that during one of the plaintiff’s first appointments, Sorial commented that he could see her collarbone and asked to see more of her body. The complaint states that the plaintiff declined.
The complaint further alleges that on or about May 31, 2024, Sorial asked the plaintiff to send sexually suggestive or revealing pictures of herself wearing minimal clothing, such as a bathing suit. The filing claims the plaintiff later sent pictures of herself wearing revealing workout clothing and that the practice received and acknowledged them.
The lawsuit alleges that after those pictures were sent, Sorial did not ask the plaintiff for additional pictures. The complaint says the plaintiff continued virtual appointments with him every three months.
During another appointment, the lawsuit alleges, the plaintiff asked Sorial about supplements she should take. The complaint claims Sorial made a comment about a supplement related to breast growth, even though the plaintiff had not raised concerns about that issue.
The complaint brings claims against Boca Raton Psychiatry, LLC for vicarious liability and negligent retention or supervision. In plain terms, the lawsuit claims the practice should be held responsible for alleged conduct by Sorial and alleges the practice failed to properly supervise or protect the plaintiff.
The complaint also brings claims against Sorial for intentional infliction of emotional distress and breach of fiduciary duty. The filing alleges Sorial misused the psychiatrist-patient relationship and engaged in conduct unrelated to legitimate psychiatric treatment.
The allegations have not been proven in court. The filing reviewed by Boca Post does not include a response from the defendants.
The lawsuit seeks damages exceeding the jurisdictional minimum of $50,000, exclusive of interest, costs, and attorney’s fees. The plaintiff also seeks compensatory damages, costs, and other relief the court deems proper. A jury trial is demanded in the complaint.
The complaint lists Horowitz Law, based in Fort Lauderdale, and Andreozzi + Foote as attorneys for the plaintiff.
