Severe Weather Alert - Tuesday, June 2, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A dangerous round of evening storms is moving through Palm Beach County Tuesday night, and residents across the Boca Raton area should stay alert for rapidly changing conditions. As of 8:27 PM, the National Weather Service reported a severe thunderstorm near Lion Country Safari Park moving southeast at about 15 mph, with the warning set to last until 8:45 PM. While the warning is focused on central Palm Beach County, nearby communities—including Boca Raton—could still see strong outflow winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours as storms shift and redevelop.

The warned storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail (around 1 inch). Those impacts can be enough to damage vehicles, knock down tree limbs, and cause roof or siding damage—especially in exposed areas and around older structures.

If you hear thunder or see darkening skies approaching from the northwest, move indoors immediately and keep away from windows. Park vehicles in a garage or under sturdy cover if you can do so safely before conditions deteriorate.

Heavy rain is also a major concern. The National Weather Service warns torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm and may lead to flash flooding.

In South Florida, flooding can develop quickly on streets, in underpasses, and in neighborhoods with poor drainage. Avoid driving through water-covered roads—depth can be deceiving, and vehicles can stall or be swept into deeper water.
