WELLINGTON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A traveling American history museum is making a three-day stop in Palm Beach County this week as Wellington begins a series of community events tied to America’s 250th anniversary.

The Village of Wellington is welcoming the Freedom 250 “Freedom Truck” to the Wellington Town Center Complex from Monday, May 18, through Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The mobile museum is free to attend and is designed for residents, students, veterans and visitors.

The Freedom Truck is part of the national Freedom 250 initiative, which is building toward the country’s 250th anniversary in 2026 through educational programs, civic engagement and community celebrations. We previously reported on on the Freedom 250 Truck when it visited Boca Raton in February. The exhibit turns a custom-built 18-wheel trailer into a museum on wheels.

Inside, visitors can walk through interactive exhibits and multimedia displays focused on America’s founding, the fight for freedom and the people, principles and events that shaped the United States.

The Wellington stop will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, May 18. It will be open again from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20.

The visit is one of several patriotic and commemorative events planned in Wellington as the community marks the nation’s 250th birthday. The village is also hosting the 2026 Flags of Wellington display, a Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, and a Fourth of July celebration connected to the broader anniversary year.

The Flags of Wellington display runs from Saturday, May 16, through Saturday, June 13, along Forest Hill Boulevard near the Patriot Memorial. The Village of Wellington is presenting the display in partnership with the Rotary Club of Wellington.

The flags are intended as a community display of remembrance, unity and spirit. Residents may purchase a 3-foot-by-5-foot flag for $50, with each flag installed by the village. Flags can be dedicated to a loved one or used to share a message of hope or pride. Each flag includes a tag with the personalized message or dedication.

Flag sales opened April 14, 2026. The display will remain in place through June 13, when purchasers may take their flags home.

Proceeds from the Flags of Wellington program benefit the Rotary Club of Wellington Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) organization. The foundation supports community programs including education, youth service and leadership programs, at-risk teen support, essentials for children in need, scholarships, assistance for veterans and first responders, resident aid programs, and meals and holiday gifts for homeless families.

Wellington will also hold its Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 25, 2026, with American Legion Post 390. The parade begins at 8:15 a.m. at Wellington Village Hall, 12300 Forest Hill Boulevard. It will end at Wellington’s Veterans Memorial, at the corner of Forest Hill Boulevard and South Shore Boulevard, where the ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m.

The Memorial Day event is free to attend. Veterans are invited to take part in the parade, and active-duty military personnel and veterans attending the ceremony may register at the Wellington tent that morning to be recognized during the program.

The village said the Memorial Day observance will honor the men and women who died while serving in the United States military. In the anniversary year, the event also serves as a tribute to generations of military service members whose service helped preserve the freedoms connected to the country’s founding.

Residents who want to participate in the Memorial Day event or walk in the parade may contact Michelle Garvey, Wellington’s assistant director of community events, at 561-791-4082. Questions about American Legion Post 390 may be sent to [email protected].

The Freedom Truck visit gives local families a free way to connect with the larger anniversary year before Wellington’s summer celebrations continue. See event website for details.
