Today's Weather - Friday, May 1, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Sunshine dominates today with a warm afternoon high near 86 and a light breeze turning southeast later this morning. Tonight stays partly cloudy and muggy with lows around 74 and a southwest breeze that may gust over 20 mph. Saturday looks mostly sunny but hotter and breezier, with Boca Raton pushing near 91 and gusty south winds. The next meaningful rain chance arrives late Saturday night and especially Sunday, when showers and thunderstorms become likely and temperatures drop back closer to 80

South Florida is sitting on the warm side of the weather pattern today, and Boca Raton will feel it. The National Weather Service notes high pressure nearby is keeping the air sinking and drying out, which is a big reason we’re expecting another mostly rain-free day.

With the typical Atlantic sea breeze struggling to push inland, the east coast metro can heat up more efficiently than usual. That’s why highs are running above normal for early May, even with a light wind early.

Saturday is the day to circle if you’re sensitive to heat. Forecast guidance discussed by the NWS suggests South Florida will be in the “warm sector” ahead of an approaching front, pulling in warmer air and a bit more humidity.

In plain terms: more sun, more heat, and a stronger south wind. Boca Raton is forecast near 92 Saturday, and it may feel hotter for a few hours during the afternoon as humidity rises.

For Boca Raton-area waters (Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach), winds stay relatively light early today, then turn southerly and increase late, with seas generally 2–3 feet. Tonight brings south winds 10–15 knots with gusts near 20 knots.

Saturday turns breezier: south winds 15–20 knots with gusts up to 25 knots and seas 2–4 feet, occasionally 5 feet, making for a choppier Intracoastal and tougher conditions for small craft. By Sunday into Monday, showers and thunderstorms can produce sudden higher winds and waves, and seas build further (especially offshore) as winds turn northerly then northeasterly behind the front.
