BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Two Delray Beach women, ages 71 and 73, were arrested after Boca Raton Police say they worked together to steal more than $2,000 in merchandise from Macy's located in the Town Center mall.

The incident happened at the Macy’s located at 5700 West Glades Road, a major retail corridor in Boca Raton that includes the Town Center area. Police responded to the store on March 28, 2026, following a report of suspected shoplifting involving two individuals detained by loss prevention staff.

Those arrested were identified as Maya Grinberg, 71, and Marina Kuralesina, 73, both of Delray Beach. Jail records show both women were booked on a charge of grand theft, with the value of the stolen merchandise reported at $2,189.69. Each was later released on $5,000 bond.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a Boca Raton Police officer responded to the Macy’s store shortly after 1 p.m. on March 28. A loss prevention officer told police that the two women had been detained inside the store after being observed on surveillance cameras engaging in suspicious activity.

The affidavit states that store personnel had been monitoring the two women for approximately two hours. During that time, they were seen entering through the Glades Road entrance and moving throughout multiple floors of the store. Surveillance reportedly showed them repeatedly entering and exiting dressing rooms while concealing merchandise.

Investigators documented specific actions attributed to each suspect. Grinberg was observed selecting a pair of shoes, walking into a bathroom hallway, and concealing the shoes inside a bag. Kuralesina was seen selecting shoes and concealing them by folding them into a shirt.

Loss prevention staff detained both women as they exited the store through the same entrance. The total value of the merchandise they allegedly took was calculated at just over $2,100.

Police say both women made statements after being read their Miranda rights. According to the affidavit, Grinberg admitted to stealing the merchandise for personal gain and denied having prior shoplifting incidents at the store. Kuralesina also admitted to the theft, telling officers it was done for personal gain. A Macy’s employee assisted with translation during Kuralesina’s interview.

Investigators noted that the case included surveillance video, witness statements, and post-Miranda admissions. Based on that evidence, police determined there was probable cause to charge both individuals.

A supplemental affidavit states the two women were charged together because they were working “in concert” during the theft.

Both were charged under Florida Statute 812.014 for grand theft, which applies when the value of stolen property exceeds $750.

Court records show both women were issued notices to appear in court in Palm Beach County. The case will proceed through the local court system, where prosecutors will determine how to move forward based on the evidence.

Retail theft cases like this are typically investigated by store loss prevention teams in coordination with local law enforcement. In Boca Raton, the Boca Raton Police Department handles these incidents when suspects are detained or when felony-level theft is alleged.

Residents and business owners in the area should be aware that organized or coordinated retail theft can elevate charges, especially when multiple individuals are involved and the value of merchandise meets felony thresholds.

An arrest is not a conviction. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
