BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Westbound lanes at the intersection of Glades Road and Butts Road were closed Wednesday morning because of a crash, according to a traffic advisory from the Boca Raton Police Department.

The advisory, sent at 7:47 a.m. Wednesday, said the westbound lanes at “Glades/Butts” were closed “due to an accident” and urged drivers to seek an alternate route.

Glades Road is one of Boca Raton’s main east-west corridors and a key route for commuters moving across the city and into central Palm Beach County. A closure at Glades and Butts can quickly back up traffic in the surrounding area, especially during the morning drive.

Boca Raton Police did not provide details in the advisory about the number of vehicles involved, whether anyone was injured, or how long the closure was expected to last. The department’s message was limited to the lane closure notice and the request for drivers to use another route.

The Boca Raton Police Department is the agency issuing the advisory and is responsible for traffic direction and roadway safety within the city. Drivers should expect congestion near the intersection and along connecting roads as traffic diverts around the closure.

What happens next depends on when the crash scene can be cleared and the roadway reopened. Residents and commuters traveling through the area should plan extra time, avoid the intersection if possible, and watch for changing traffic patterns as police manage the closure.

The advisory did not specify which westbound lanes were affected beyond stating the westbound lanes at the intersection were closed. Motorists should follow posted signs and any directions from officers on scene and use alternate routes until the roadway reopens.

This is a developing traffic situation based on the Boca Raton Police Department’s advisory issued Wednesday morning.
