Two Unrelated Shootings

At approximately 11:38 a.m., Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue responded to an animal bite call near the 3900 block of Northwest 35th Avenue in Lauderdale Lakes. On scene, deputies located an adult male suffering from multiple dog bite injuries. Deputies also encountered the animal, who investigators say attempted to attack the responding deputy. That deputy was forced to fire, injuring the dog. The male victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Broward County Animal Care was notified to respond. The injured dog was placed in their care. Detectives with BSO’s Internal Affairs Unit were notified to investigate the shooting. The investigation continues.

In a completely unrelated incident BSO Lauderdale Lakes deputies also responded to the following:

At approximately 12:15 p.m., Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting call near the 3600 block of Northwest 21st Street in Lauderdale Lakes. On scene, deputies learned the victim, an adult female walking her dog, was shot at by an unknown male, following a verbal dispute. The subject fled the scene and was later taken into custody near the 2700 block of Sunrise Boulevard. Detectives with BSO’s Violent Crimes and Crime Scene units were notified and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. No injuries were reported.
