The Broward Sheriffs Office Internal Affairs Unit finished investigating how the agency handled the events surrounding the homicide of Mary Gingles and her father David Ponzer along, with neighbor Andrew Ferrin in February 2025 on September 12 of that year. After the internal inquiry was conducted by the authorities at BSO (Broward Sheriffs Office) six deputies were suspended from their duties and disciplinary action was taken against another 11 deputies for their involvement in handling the investigations related to the incidents reported by Mary Gingles before her passing or for their response, to the shooting incident. Moreover two employees were not found guilty of any misconduct after investigation. Furthermore the captain of BSOs Tamarac District was demoted to a deputy.
