On the 9th of January in 2025 you can click here to see photos and view the ceremony where Sheriff Dr.Gregory Tony was sworn in for his second term as the 17th sheriff of Broward County. The Honorable Judge Julio Gonzalez presided over the oath taking in the presence of hundreds of attendees at Bailey Hall, on the Broward College campus located in Davie on a Tuesday afternoon.Several individuals involved in the program spoke about the advancements seen during Sheriff Dr Tonys tenure and expressed gratitude for his guidance and dedication to upholding safety in Broward County.”Today I had the privilege of recommitting to my duty of safeguarding the residents of Broward County.This occasion holds significance for me it underscores my dedication to guaranteeing the security and welfare of our community.Together we strive towards an more resilient future, for everyone. I appreciate the trust and support you’ve shown – it’s an honor to work with the team at BSO by my side.I am eager to continue our momentum and prioritize our community ” Sheriff Dr.Tony expressed.Grateful for the re election by Broward voters, on November 5th of 2024 to oversee the 5 500 staff members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office. BSO stands as one of the public safety agencies in the country that offers law enforcement services to 12 cities and the unincorporated areas within the county while also providing fire rescue services to nine contract cities. Apart from safeguarding county courthouses and ensuring safety at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades through both law enforcement and fire rescue efforts BSO manages regional support services such, as K–9 units SWAT teams, marine patrol, training division, bomb detection units and aviation services. It is responsible for overseeing the four county detention facilities and coordinating emergency 911 response and communication services for cities, in Broward County.
