TAMARAC, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — A 6-year-old Tamarac boy died after an accidental shooting.

The Broward Sheriffs Office Homicide Unit detectives worked together with BSOs V.I.P.E.R investigators to apprehend Carika Hall at the age of 25 for their involvement, in the accidental shooting that led to the death of 6 year old Odaine Hall.

A devastating event took place around 3;29 p.m on Monday afternoon at the 5600 block of Rock Island Road in Tamarac, Florida. Both BSO deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue swiftly responded to a distress call reporting a shooting incident that had taken place within a home, in that area. When emergency responders arrived at the scene they found a child who had been shot and was tragically declared dead on site.

The initial inquiry found that the victim was under the observation of Carika – his uncle –, at the time he acquired a firearm and unintentionally injured himself with it.
Carika was arrested at his home in Tamarac by BSOs V.I.P.E.R unit, on Wednesday the 6th of November for charges of negligence and neglect of a child.

BSO urges firearm owners to store their guns and follow important gun safety guidelines for protection against accidents and misuse such as keeping firearms unloaded and locked away in a secure container that is out of reach for children or unauthorized individuals to access easily. With these precautions in place both kids and adults are shielded from shootings and similar unfortunate events, like the one mentioned above.
