BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Dense Fog Advisory is posted this morning, then Boca Raton turns mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s and a quiet, warmer pattern building through the week.

Advisories

A Dense Fog Advisory is posted this morning. Dense fog is still causing problems across Palm Beach County and nearby areas this morning, with visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less in some spots.

The Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m., covering coastal, metro, and inland Palm Beach County, along with Glades and Hendry counties. That includes Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, West Palm Beach, Wellington, The Acreage, Belle Glade, and surrounding communities.

The biggest concern is driving. Low visibility can make roads hazardous, especially on early-morning commutes. Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles until conditions improve later this morning.

Today’s Weather – Monday, January 5, 2026

It starts with fog. The kind you notice before you even check the temperature. Patchy to dense fog settled in overnight and is still hanging around early this morning, especially away from the immediate coast.

Early drivers should slow it down. Along I-95, westbound Glades Road, Lyons Road through the darker stretches — visibility can change quickly. Clear for a minute, then not. The worst of it usually runs from the pre-dawn hours through mid-morning, then improves once the sun gets some leverage.

After that, the day straightens out. Mostly sunny skies take over with a high near 77. Winds are light and variable at first, then turn east at 5 to 9 mph later in the morning. Enough to feel along the Intracoastal and beaches, but barely noticeable inland.

This is what a quiet pattern looks like. High pressure parked nearby, yesterday’s front already a memory. Temperatures inch upward. No rain to speak of. Nothing flashy.

Tonight stays calm. Mostly clear, with a low around 64. An east wind near 6 mph fades to light and variable after midnight. Clear skies, weak winds, dew points stuck in the low to mid-60s — that combination keeps fog in play again late tonight and early Tuesday. Mostly inland, but it could drift closer to the east coast metros. Not a guarantee. Just something to watch.

Otherwise, it’s a quiet stretch. Almost dull. People won’t complain.

7 Day Outlook

Today (Monday): Morning fog, then mostly sunny. High near 77. Winds light, becoming east 5–9 mph. Fog is the only real issue.

Tonight: Mostly clear, low around 64. East wind near 6 mph, going light overnight. Patchy fog possible again late.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high near 78. Calm early, then southeast winds 5–8 mph. Fog potential lingers overnight into early morning, maybe edging closer to the coast.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, low around 64. Southeast wind near 6 mph, then light and variable.

Wednesday: Sunny, high near 79. Light winds, turning northeast 5–7 mph in the morning. Dry air holds.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, low around 67. East wind 3–6 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, high near 79. Light northeast wind shifting east 5–10 mph during the day.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, low around 70. East wind 8–10 mph.

Friday: Sunny, high near 79. Southeast winds 10–13 mph, with gusts up to 18 mph. Breezier near the Intracoastal, noticeable on the barrier island.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, low around 69.

Saturday: Sunny, high near 80. Warmest day of the run, still dry.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, low around 66.

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers, otherwise mostly sunny with a high near 76. Low odds, brief if anything shows up.

Marine Conditions

Boaters and anyone watching the beach conditions will see fairly tame seas early this week, then a modest uptick late week as winds increase.

For the local Atlantic waters (Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out 20 nm and 20–60 nm), winds stay east 5–10 knots today with seas 2–4 feet, occasionally to 5 feet. Tonight remains similar with southeast 5–10 knots and 2–4 feet, occasionally 5 feet.

Tuesday holds southeast 5–10 knots with 2–3 feet and a chance of showers in the morning on the marine forecast. By late week, the pattern turns breezier: Thursday through Friday brings southeast winds 10–15 knots, seas 2–3 feet, and a moderate chop on the Intracoastal.
