BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton gets a sunny but cool day with early wind chill, a moderate rip current risk at area beaches, and a Small Craft Advisory on the Atlantic waters through late afternoon.

Today’s Weather – Friday, January 16, 2026

Boca Raton is waking up to the kind of morning that feels almost illegal for Florida. It is sunny, it is dry, and it is cool enough that you will notice it the second you step outside, especially along the I-95 corridor and anywhere the wind can get a clean shot at you.

For today, the National Weather Service forecast for near the Boca Raton Airport calls for sunshine with a high near 68. The early hours come with a bite, with wind chill values as low as 37. If you are heading out before breakfast, or driving west toward the Lyons Road area where the open spaces let the air move freely, it is a grab-a-hoodie kind of start.

Winds are part of the story. Northwest wind around 10 mph is expected this morning, then it shifts and becomes northeast in the afternoon. That change matters locally. The breeze that starts from the northwest and then turns onshore can make it feel cooler near the Intracoastal and at Boca’s beaches even when the sun is doing its job.

Rain is not expected today. The broader South Florida forecast discussion describes a stable, dry setup over the region, which is why the forecast stays essentially rain-free with mostly clear skies and cool afternoon temperatures that struggle to reach 70.

Tonight, conditions loosen up a bit. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and a low around 60 near Boca Raton, with an east wind 6 to 8 mph becoming north after midnight. With the wind shifting and moisture creeping back in, it will not feel as raw as this morning, but it will still be a noticeable cool night by local standards.

Beachgoers should pay attention to the water, not the sky. The forecast discussion indicates a moderate risk of rip currents for all South Florida beaches for the rest of today, after a high risk continues for Collier County beaches until later this morning. Even with sunny weather, that moderate risk is enough to turn an otherwise inviting shoreline into a day to stay cautious and stay close.

On the marine side, conditions are hazardous offshore. The marine forecast for the coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out 20 nautical miles, and the adjacent offshore waters, calls for seas of 5 to 7 feet today, occasionally up to 9 feet. Winds are expected at 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 20 knots, becoming northeast this afternoon. Intracoastal waters are expected to run a moderate chop. In other words, it is not a friendly day for small boats, and it is not the calm, postcard ocean many people expect with blue skies.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

Here is what is posted in the National Weather Service Miami advisories list and associated products:
