BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton stays mostly sunny and warm today and Saturday, but a front late Sunday turns it breezy with a higher shower and thunder chance and a rough ocean setup overnight.

Today’s Weather – Friday, January 9, 2026

Boca wakes up quiet and dry, and it stays that way through the daylight hours.

For today, the National Weather Service forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 79 degrees. Winds will be out of the southeast at 9 to 13 mph, with gusts up to around 18 mph. That’s enough of a breeze to keep things comfortable along the Boca beaches and across the Intracoastal, but you’ll still notice it on the open stretches near the I-95 corridor and on east-west runs like Glades Road.

No rain is forecast today in the Boca point forecast. The bigger theme is steady warmth for early January. The broader South Florida discussion keeps daytime temperatures above average into the weekend, with highs generally running in the low to mid 80s across the region.

Tonight stays calm and mostly clear in Boca, with a low around 71 degrees. East winds hold near 10 mph. That’s a mild night, especially by January standards, and it’s the kind of setup that can feel humid near the water even with clear skies.

One hazard note, though it’s not specific to Boca: the area forecast discussion flags fog developing early this morning and again Saturday morning, mainly across southwest Florida and around the Lake Okeechobee region. Some fog could be locally dense, with visibility dropping below a mile and in spots even below a quarter mile. That’s more of an interior and Gulf-side issue, but it’s part of the same overall pattern—dry air aloft, low-level moisture creeping in, and lighter overnight winds allowing patchy fog pockets where winds decouple.

Marine conditions today and into the weekend (local Atlantic waters):

If you’re boating or watching the water from the beach, conditions are manageable through Saturday. For the coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out 20 nautical miles, and the offshore waters from 20 to 60 nautical miles, today brings southeast winds 10 to 15 knots and seas around 2 feet. Intracoastal waters run a moderate chop.

Tonight stays similar: east winds 10 to 15 knots, seas around 2 feet, and a moderate chop on the Intracoastal.

Saturday remains steady with southeast winds 10 to 15 knots and seas around 2 feet, then Saturday night eases slightly with southeast winds 5 to 10 knots, still around 2 feet, and the Intracoastal dropping to a light chop.

The bigger change waits until late Sunday.

7 Day Outlook

Today (Fri): Mostly sunny, high near 79. Southeast wind 9–13 mph with gusts up to 18 mph. Dry day for Boca, including the beaches and western suburbs out past Lyons Road.

Tonight (Fri night): Mostly clear, low around 71. East wind around 10 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, high near 80. Southeast wind around 11 mph. Still stable, still warm for January.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, low around 69. Southeast wind 3–7 mph. A softer wind shift overnight, with clouds increasing.

Sunday: Changes begin creeping in. A 20% chance of showers after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, high near 81. Calm wind early becomes northeast 5–8 mph in the morning. Not a washout, but it’s no longer the locked-in dry pattern.

Sunday Night: The unsettled window expands. A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 4 a.m., then a slight chance of showers afterward. Mostly cloudy with a low around 66. It turns breezy and then more than breezy: north winds 9–14 mph increase to 15–20 mph after midnight, with gusts up to 26 mph. Rain chance sits at 30%.
Marine impact is the bigger headline here. Winds on the water ramp up hard overnight: north winds 20–25 knots increasing to 25–30 knots after midnight. Seas build from 2–4 feet (occasionally 5) to 6–9 feet (occasionally 11) after midnight. Intracoastal waters turn rough, with showers possible.

Monday: Mostly cloudy and cooler, high near 73. Breezy northeast winds 14–18 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. On the water, northeast winds 20–25 knots diminish to 15–20 knots in the afternoon, but seas remain elevated at 7–10 feet with occasional higher sets, and the Intracoastal stays rough in exposed areas.

Monday Night: A 20% chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, low around 66. Breezy northeast winds 13–17 mph with gusts up to 24 mph.

Tuesday: A 20% chance of precipitation, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms possible after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, high near 76. Northeast wind around 14 mph with gusts up to 21 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 20% chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, low around 67. Offshore, east winds 15–20 knots with seas 3–5 feet, occasionally 6, and a chance of showers developing after midnight.

Wednesday: Rain chances tick up again: a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, high near 77.

Wednesday Night: A 40% chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, low around 62.

Thursday: A 30% chance of showers. Partly sunny, high near 73. Breezy.

Bottom line for Boca: you’ve got a clean, warm Friday and Saturday, then Sunday is the transition day. The late Sunday night into Monday period looks like the main shift—cooler air, stronger north-to-northeast winds, and a rougher Atlantic with building seas.
