BELLE GLADE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A crash on State Road 80 in Belle Glade that happened more than four months ago has now been logged as a double fatal case after the second driver involved later died from his injuries, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The two-vehicle crash occurred around 6:38 a.m. on Aug. 10 along Southern Boulevard, east of Hatton Highway, PBSO records show.

Investigators say the driver of Vehicle 1 was traveling eastbound on Southern Boulevard but was driving within the westbound lanes. At the same time, Vehicle 2 was traveling westbound in the proper lanes.

According to the traffic homicide narrative, the driver of Vehicle 1 failed to correct or yield to oncoming traffic and drove into the front of Vehicle 2. Both vehicles rotated before coming to rest.

The driver of Vehicle 1 was identified as Lon’Quinten McFadden, who was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu. He was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, the report states.

The driver of Vehicle 2, Jorge Fermin, was operating a 2024 Ford F-150. He was transported from the scene to St. Mary’s Medical Center with critical injuries.

An update added to the traffic division log on Dec. 31 states that Fermin later succumbed to those injuries. He was pronounced deceased at 2:18 p.m. that day.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office noted that the next of kin and families of both drivers have been notified.

The crash is listed under PBSO Traffic Division investigations, with the fatal designation reflecting the deaths of both drivers.
