BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton starts Thursday with a fog issue inland, then turns into a bright, mild day for most of the I 95 corridor and the beaches.
The local forecast calls for sunny skies with an afternoon high near 78 degrees. Winds start out of the west around 7 mph, then flip to the northeast as the afternoon goes on, the kind of sea breeze shift that you will notice first near the water and then pushing inland toward roads like Glades Road and Lyons Road.
While the daytime weather looks straightforward, the bigger theme from the National Weather Service discussion is a pattern change creeping in. A weak front is sliding south along the peninsula today. It is expected to stall out over central Florida later today and then weaken heading into the weekend. In the near term, that front is mainly tied to a small uptick in shower chances closer to Lake Okeechobee late this evening, but Boca Raton still sits in a low end rain setup.
Tonight, clouds increase some. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a low around 62 degrees. There is a slight chance of showers between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., with rain chances at 20 percent. Winds tonight go from southeast around 6 mph to northwest after midnight. The combination of light winds and lingering moisture is also why forecasters are watching for fog again later tonight into early Friday, mainly away from the immediate coast.
For the morning commute today, the advisory is focused on dense fog across inland areas of South Florida. If you are heading out early from the western suburbs toward I 95, or cutting east toward the Intracoastal and the barrier island, expect the worst visibility issues inland and around daybreak, not necessarily right at the beachfront.
Beachgoers should also keep an eye on surf conditions. Forecasters say a moderate risk of rip currents will persist along Palm Beach County beaches today, even as swell gradually lessens. If you are planning time near the water in Boca Raton, especially if you are not a strong swimmer, pick guarded beaches and stay out of unprotected areas.
On the water, the marine forecast for the coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach calls for northwest winds 10 to 15 knots today, diminishing to 5 to 10 knots this afternoon. Seas run 2 to 3 feet, with light chop on the Intracoastal. Tonight, northwest winds 5 to 10 knots and seas 2 to 4 feet, occasionally up to 5 feet, with a chance of showers.

Marine seas 2 to 4 feet, occasionally 5, with a chance of showers. Fog is a concern again inland overnight into early Friday.
Friday: Mostly sunny with a high near 76. A 20 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m. Northwest wind 6 to 10 mph, becoming northeast in the afternoon. Marine winds north 5 to 10 knots, turning northeast 10 to 15 knots late, seas 2 to 4 feet, occasionally 5.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, low around 66. A 20 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m. East wind around 10 mph. Marine winds east around 15 knots, seas 2 to 4 feet, occasionally 5, and a moderate chop on the Intracoastal.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, high near 75. A 20 percent chance of showers. East wind 9 to 14 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. Marine conditions start trending rougher: southeast winds 15 to 20 knots with gusts up to 25, seas 3 to 5 feet, occasionally 6, with choppy Intracoastal waters in exposed areas.
Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, low around 68. Southeast wind around 14 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. Marine remains elevated with southeast winds 15 to 20 knots gusting to 25 and seas 3 to 5 feet, occasionally 6.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a high near 77. Shower chances rise to 30 percent, mainly after 1 p.m. It turns breezy with southeast winds 14 to 17 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. Marine conditions are likely the bigger impact: southeast winds 20 to 25 knots, seas 5 to 6 feet and occasionally 8, with a moderate chop on the Intracoastal and a chance of showers in the afternoon.
Sunday Night: A more active period. Chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 a.m. Low around 68. South wind around 15 mph with gusts up to 22 mph. Rain chances jump to 60 percent. Marine stays rough with south winds 20 to 25 knots, seas 5 to 6 feet, occasionally 8.
Washington’s Birthday (Monday): Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, high near 81. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Marine: southwest winds 20 to 25 knots early, becoming west 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon, seas 4 to 6 feet, occasionally 8, with showers likely mainly in the morning.
Monday Night: Mostly clear, low around 63, with a 20 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m. Marine: northwest winds 10 to 15 knots, seas 2 to 3 feet, light chop on the Intracoastal, and a chance of showers in the evening.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high near 77.
