Century Village of West Palm Beach, the community identified in a Palm Beach County negligence lawsuit filed July 11, 2026.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL — A West Palm Beach resident has filed a negligence lawsuit against W.P.R.F., Inc., the corporate operator behind West Palm Recreation Facilities, alleging that a lap pulldown machine at the Century Village of West Palm Beach detached during use and caused him to fall backward, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff, Gary Andrew Leysock, filed the complaint on July 11, 2026 in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, General Jurisdiction Division. The case is docketed as Case No. 502026CA007768XXXAMB, Division AE, court records show. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Melissa L. Corrales of the Miami-based firm Wolfson & Leon.

The lawsuit names W.P.R.F., Inc. as the sole defendant. The complaint describes the defendant as a foreign profit corporation licensed to do business in Florida. According to the filing, the company owned, maintained, or operated the property located at or near 5500 Century Boulevard in Palm Beach County at the time of the incident. That address corresponds to the Century Village of West Palm Beach community.

The complaint alleges the incident occurred on or about September 9, 2025. According to the filing, Leysock entered the premises as a business invitee and was using a lap pulldown machine in what the complaint describes as the machine's intended and foreseeable manner. The lawsuit alleges that a pin or clip securing the machine detached, causing the plaintiff to fall backward onto his tailbone.

The single-count complaint brings a claim of negligence. The lawsuit alleges the defendant failed to maintain the premises equipment in a reasonably safe condition, failed to correct a dangerous condition it knew or should have known about through reasonable care, and failed to warn the plaintiff of that alleged condition. The complaint further alleges the condition occurred with such regularity that the defendant knew or should have known of its existence.

The filing seeks damages in excess of $50,000, exclusive of interest, costs, and attorneys' fees. The complaint states it is uncertain whether damages exceed $75,000, a threshold that can affect federal court jurisdiction in civil cases. The complaint alleges the plaintiff sustained bodily injury resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, aggravation or acceleration of pre-existing conditions, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, hospitalization and medical expenses, lost earnings, and loss of future earning capacity. The lawsuit alleges those losses are permanent or continuing in nature.

The plaintiff has demanded a jury trial. The complaint states it was served with a summons and a notice of designation of email address. The filing reviewed by Boca Post does not include a response from W.P.R.F., Inc.

Century Village of West Palm Beach is one of the largest active adult condominium communities in Palm Beach County, with shared clubhouse facilities that include fitness equipment. The complaint does not name any individual employee, contractor, or maintenance vendor.

The allegations in the complaint have not been proven in court. A civil complaint sets out one party's version of events and is not a finding by a judge or jury.
