Today’s Weather – Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026
BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton gets a little bit of everything today, including a late-day rain and storm window, then a fast slide into windy, much colder air tonight.
This morning starts out on the quieter side, but the National Weather Service says areas of dense fog develop across interior sections and Southwest Florida early, with some fog potentially spreading closer to east coast metro areas before lifting shortly after sunrise. If you are headed west toward the Glades or moving along the I 95 corridor around daybreak, plan for pockets of reduced visibility that can show up quickly, especially away from the beach.
By this afternoon, the story turns to a cold front moving through South Florida. For Boca, the local forecast calls for increasing clouds and a high near 85. Showers are most favored in a narrow window late in the day. The forecast calls for a chance of showers between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. The overall chance of precipitation is 50%, with rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, though higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.
Winds will be noticeable even before the front clears. Expect a west wind 6 to 15 mph with gusts up to 23 mph during the day. If storms pop up near Glades Road, Lyons Road, or the western suburbs, conditions can change fast for a short period with brief heavy rain and stronger gusts.
Tonight is the big shift.
The forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. After that, skies trend toward clearing. Temperatures drop hard behind the front, with a low around 46 in Boca.
It also turns windy. Tonight calls for a northwest wind 17 to 22 mph with gusts up to 29 mph. That wind will be felt along the Intracoastal, on bridges, and in open areas near the beach. It will also make it feel colder than the thermometer suggests, especially late tonight into early Monday.
Monday stays dry but chilly. The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 61, with wind chill values as low as 38 early, and northwest winds 15 to 21 mph with gusts up to 29 mph. It is the kind of day where the sun is out, but the wind keeps it from feeling warm, especially along the coast.
Beach and marine conditions deteriorate as the front passes. The forecast discussion notes a high risk of rip currents developing across South Florida beaches tonight into Monday as winds increase and seas build. For boaters off Boca and up toward the Boca and Delray area coast, hazardous conditions ramp up quickly, with advisories posted for small craft and a forecast calling for rapidly building seas and strong northwest winds.
