BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — The National Hurricane Center is continuing to watch a storm system off of the coast of Africa as it continues to show signs of development.

From the National Hurricane Center:

A tropical wave continues to produce a large area of disorganized cloudiness and thunderstorms over the eastern tropical Atlantic a few hundred miles south-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.

The gradual development of this system is possible and a tropical depression could form around the middle to the latter portion of the week before environmental conditions become less favorable by this weekend.

This system is expected to move westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph across the tropical Atlantic during the next several days.

UPDATE

The National Hurricane Center has issued the following tropical weather outlook this morning:

A large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the far eastern tropical Atlantic south of the Cabo Verde islands is associated with a tropical wave.

Environmental conditions appear generally conducive for the gradual development of this system while it moves westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph across the
eastern and central tropical Atlantic and a tropical depression could form around the middle to the latter part of this week.
