Today’s Weather – Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026
BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton wakes up to a mostly sunny forecast Tuesday with a cool ocean breeze onshore, but the bigger story is at the beach, where dangerous rip currents are expected to ramp up starting this morning.
For the I 95 corridor and the Intracoastal side of the city, it is a classic east wind day. The National Weather Service forecast for the Boca Raton area calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 76. Winds will run from the east at 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph, enough to keep it feeling comfortable even as the afternoon warms up.
Along the beaches and barrier island, that steady push of wind and surf is also part of why the rip current risk is elevated. If you are heading to the water, today is not the day to treat it casually. Conditions can look inviting. The water can still pull hard.
Rain is not a big factor in today’s local forecast. The detailed forecast does not call for measurable rain today, and the area discussion notes only very low chances for a quick, shallow coastal shower on the east coast with Atlantic moisture, if anything pops up at all.
Tonight stays mild for mid February standards. Expect partly cloudy skies with a low around 67 and an east wind around 10 mph. If you are out late along Glades Road, Federal Highway, or the downtown core, it should stay comfortable with a light breeze still in place.
The broader pattern is straightforward. Forecasters say deep layered high pressure remains in control, keeping South Florida on the southern side of that system with an east to northeast flow today, then gradually veering winds more southeast and south into Wednesday as the ridge drifts east. That shift lines up with a warming trend that continues through the work week.
Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings
A Rip Current Statement and Coastal Hazard Message are posted for the Boca Raton area.
The National Weather Service says a high rip current risk is in effect from 7 AM EST this morning through Friday evening for Coastal Palm Beach County. The hazard message warns that dangerous rip currents are expected, and notes that rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
Forecasters urge beachgoers to swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, the guidance is to relax and float, avoid swimming against the current, and if possible swim parallel to shore to get out of the pull, or face the shore and signal for help if you cannot escape.
