Today’s Weather – Wednesday, February 18, 2026
BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton is waking up to a mostly quiet weather day, the kind that looks calm on the skycam but still comes with a serious beach hazard.
Expect mostly sunny skies today with a high near 78 degrees, and a steady southeast breeze running about 9 to 13 mph. Along the I-95 corridor and east toward the beaches, it will feel comfortable for February, with that light ocean wind keeping things from getting too warm even as the sun does the work.
Tonight turns partly cloudy with a low around 67. Winds ease a bit and shift more southerly, staying in the 5 to 10 mph range. If you are out late around the Intracoastal or heading home from dinner along Federal Highway, it should be mild, not muggy, and overall pretty calm.
The broader setup is a warming pattern taking hold. Forecast guidance discussed by the National Weather Service points to high pressure shifting east and a surface ridge sliding across South Florida, which helps lighten winds over land and turns the flow more southerly. That is the classic recipe for a gradual warm-up. The forecast discussion notes afternoon highs today climbing into the low to mid 80s across the region, including Atlantic metro areas, with Thursday warming into the mid to upper 80s across much of South Florida and the warmest readings inland.
Rain is not a big player right now. The forecast keeps rain chances essentially negligible, though the forecast discussion says you cannot fully rule out a quick, brief shower along the east coast each afternoon. If one pops up, it would be shallow, short-lived, and not the kind of setup that brings a widespread washout.
One more note for early Thursday: the forecast discussion flags some fog potential overnight into Thursday morning, especially over interior and western areas where cooling is stronger. For Boca Raton, that is more likely to matter if you are driving west toward the Turnpike, out near the western suburbs, or commuting across darker stretches around Lyons Road in the early morning hours.
The big local storyline today is the beach hazard, not the clouds.
Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings
A Rip Current Statement is posted for Coastal Palm Beach County.
The National Weather Service says a high rip current risk remains in effect through Friday evening for Coastal Palm Beach County. Dangerous rip currents are expected, and the warning notes that rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
The safety guidance is direct: swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float, do not fight the current, and if you can, swim parallel to the shoreline. If you cannot escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
