Boca Raton wakes up cold again Tuesday morning, the tail end of a historic stretch of chill across South Florida, and you will feel it early if you are stepping outside near the beaches, along the Intracoastal, or anywhere off the I 95 corridor.
The National Weather Service forecast for 2 miles ESE of Boca Raton Airport calls for a mostly sunny day with a high near 67. Wind chill values dip as low as 38 early, so that first school drop off, dog walk, or commute down Glades Road can feel more like winter than Boca. Winds start out of the northwest at 9 to 11 mph, then turn easterly during the afternoon. Gusts could reach 18 mph.
Skies stay bright for most of the day, but the bigger local issue is not rain. It is the surf and current conditions along the Atlantic shoreline. A lingering swell is keeping a high risk of rip currents posted for Atlantic beaches today, and a high surf advisory remains in effect for the Palm Beaches through the afternoon. The NWS says large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet are expected in the surf zone, creating dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and even localized beach erosion.
If you are headed to the beach, the guidance is simple. Inexperienced swimmers should stay out of the water. Swim near a lifeguard. If you get caught in a rip current, the NWS advises to relax and float, do not swim against the current, and if you can, swim in a direction that follows the shoreline. If you cannot escape, face the shore and signal for help.
Tonight, clouds increase. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a low around 57. Winds ease to a light north wind around 3 to 6 mph. The air will not be as sharp as the last few mornings, but it stays cool for early February standards.
On the water, hazardous marine conditions remain in play through the day for the Atlantic waters. The marine forecast for the coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out 20 nautical miles calls for northeast winds 10 to 15 knots becoming east 5 to 10 knots this afternoon. Seas run 5 to 7 feet, occasionally up to 9 feet, with a moderate chop on the Intracoastal. For boaters, that is not a casual day out.

High Surf Advisory remains in effect until 4 p.m. EST Tuesday. The NWS calls for large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet expected in the surf zone.
High Rip Current Risk (Coastal Palm Beach County)
High rip current risk remains in effect through Tuesday evening. The NWS warns rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
Small Craft Advisory (Atlantic Waters: Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach, out 20 NM and 20 to 60 NM)
Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. EST Tuesday. The NWS expects northwest winds 15 to 25 knots with gusts up to 30 knots and seas 7 to 10 feet, creating hazardous conditions for small vessels.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, warmer, high near 73. Light and variable wind becomes east 5 to 8 mph. The NWS says the high rip current risk will likely linger into Wednesday for the Palm Beaches.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, low around 56. South wind 5 to 7 mph, becoming west after midnight.
Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly sunny, high near 68. Breezy with west wind 9 to 16 mph and gusts up to 24 mph. The NWS notes a cold front crosses South Florida Thursday, with only meager rainfall expected. Marine conditions deteriorate with strong winds and building seas.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, colder, low around 45. Breezy northwest wind 16 to 18 mph, gusts up to 25 mph. Seas build significantly offshore, with rough Intracoastal conditions in exposed areas.
Friday: Sunny, high near 65. Northwest wind 11 to 14 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. Cooler air settles in behind the front, with continued rough marine conditions early.
Friday Night: Clear, low around 48. Northwest wind 11 to 14 mph, gusts up to 18 mph.
