Breezy northeast winds keep Boca’s beaches hazardous today, with a high near 75 and a high rip current risk that remains in effect through Tuesday evening.

Today’s Weather — Monday, January 12, 2026

Boca Raton wakes up under a gray, mostly cloudy sky, and it stays that way for much of the day. It won’t be hot, but it will be breezy, and the bigger story is at the beach.

For today, the National Weather Service forecast for the Boca Raton Airport area calls for mostly cloudy conditions with a high near 75. Winds are out of the northeast at 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. That steady push off the Atlantic is keeping surf and nearshore conditions rough, especially along the Boca beaches and down the barrier island. If you’re planning to be near the water, this is the kind of day where it can look manageable from the sand and still turn dangerous fast.

Rain is not expected to be a major factor during the day, but the broader pattern is shifting. A cold front is working south through South Florida and is expected to weaken as it moves through. The front is providing just enough lift for some showers, mainly late tonight into Monday morning, with the best chance closer to the east coast metro areas. The discussion notes rainfall totals are expected to stay limited and not cause impacts, with no more than about 0.3 to 0.5 inches across South Florida, highest near the east coast.

For Boca specifically, the forecast keeps today mostly dry, but conditions change after midnight. Tonight brings a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 4 a.m. Skies stay mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Winds ease a bit but remain out of the northeast around 10 mph.

If you’re moving around town today, expect the breeze to be noticeable along the Intracoastal and any open stretches near the coastline, and it can kick up around east-west roads as well. The wind is also the driver behind hazardous marine and beach conditions beginning tonight, with the rip current risk remaining high.

Marine conditions are rough enough that a Small Craft Advisory is in effect on the local waters, with the Boca-to-Jupiter/Deerfield coastal waters forecast calling for northeast winds 15 to 20 knots with gusts up to 25 knots today. Seas are expected to run 5 to 8 feet, occasionally to 10 feet, with choppy intracoastal waters in exposed areas. The marine forecast keeps a slight chance of showers late today, then a chance of showers tonight, and continued chances Tuesday.

Tuesday’s land forecast for Boca calls for a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 10 a.m. It turns partly sunny, with a high near 76. Winds shift to northeast around 10 mph. Rain chances remain 30 percent. Tuesday night drops to around 67 with a 20 percent chance of showers, and winds transition from east to south after midnight.

Looking a little farther out, another stronger cold front is on the table later this week, with the forecast discussion noting it could reinforce colder air and bring increased rain chances Thursday, followed by a much colder and drier air mass Thursday night. That’s when temperatures could tumble into the 30s and 40s across the region, with Friday highs potentially struggling to reach 70.

Bottom line for today in Boca: comfortable temps, breezy northeast winds, and a beach day that comes with real risk.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

High Rip Current Risk in effect through Tuesday evening
Dangerous rip currents are expected along Coastal Palm Beach County, Coastal Broward County, and Coastal Miami-Dade County through Tuesday evening. Impacts include rip currents that can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Safety guidance from the statement: swim near a lifeguard; if caught in a rip current, relax and float, don’t swim against the current, and if possible swim parallel to shore; if you cannot escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

Small Craft Advisory
A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for all local waters. In the Boca/Jupiter-to-Deerfield coastal waters, the marine forecast notes hazardous conditions with northeast winds and elevated seas, with the Small Craft Advisory in effect through Tuesday morning for that zone.
