BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton warms into the mid 80s today before a strong front flips the wind, drops temperatures sharply tonight, and keeps a high rip current risk in place at Palm Beach County beaches.

Today’s Weather – Monday, January 26, 2026

Boca Raton is getting one more taste of late-spring style warmth today before the bottom drops out tonight.

After some early low clouds and patches of fog inland, the National Weather Service says skies will turn mostly sunny with highs near 85 in the Boca area. The air will feel even warmer at times, with apparent temperatures expected to sit in the low 90s for several hours across the east coast metro this afternoon. It is the kind of heat you do not expect in late January, and it comes with a quick change in the forecast by tonight.

For most neighborhoods along the I-95 corridor, the Intracoastal, and out toward Glades Road and Lyons Road, the daytime setup is straightforward. Mostly sunny. Hot for the season. A small shot at a passing shower after 2 p.m. Rain chances are limited, about 20 percent, and the weather service notes that the better odds for showers are farther north across the region as the front approaches.

Winds will be part of the story all day. Expect a southwest breeze in the morning around 9 to 14 mph, turning more west during the afternoon. Gusts could push to about 21 mph. If you are out on the barrier island or along the beach, the wind shift will be noticeable later in the day as the cold front gets closer.

The bigger impact arrives tonight. Behind the front, winds turn north and ramp up. The forecast calls for a windy night with north winds 14 to 22 mph and gusts up to about 29 mph. Temperatures fall fast. Boca’s low is forecast around 53, but the wind will make it feel cooler than the number suggests, especially late tonight into early Tuesday. If you are in West Boca neighborhoods closer to the glades, the cooler air tends to settle in a little more efficiently, and the breeze will make patios and early morning school runs feel sharply different than today’s afternoon.

Beachgoers should also pay attention to the surf. A Rip Current Statement remains posted for Coastal Palm Beach County, including Boca Raton’s beaches. The high risk is expected to remain in effect through this evening, which means the ocean can look inviting while the water movement is not. Even strong swimmers can get pulled away from shore.

On the marine side, conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly as the front moves through. The National Weather Service says Small Craft Advisories go into effect this evening for Atlantic waters, with winds increasing significantly overnight and seas building. For those boating out of Boca Inlet or along the nearshore reefs, today’s relatively manageable chop is not expected to last. The forecast calls for a rapid turn to hazardous conditions tonight, then rough seas continuing into Tuesday.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

  • High Rip Current Risk remains in effect through this evening for Coastal Palm Beach County. The hazard is listed as dangerous rip currents, with the National Weather Service warning they can pull swimmers away from shore into deeper water. The guidance is to swim near a lifeguard and, if caught in a rip current, relax and float rather than fighting the flow.
  • Small Craft Advisory in effect for Atlantic coastal waters (including the Boca Raton area waters) from 7 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Wednesday. The marine advisory calls for north winds in the 20 to 30 knot range and seas building into hazardous levels for small craft.
  • Cold Weather Advisory from midnight tonight to 9 a.m. Tuesday for Glades and Hendry counties. This is not for Boca Raton, but it is included in the National Weather Service advisory list tied to this forecast package.
