BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton is waking up to a wet and unsettled start on Sunday, with showers and thunderstorms in the mix early, then a quieter stretch later as the day tries to brighten up.
For areas around the Boca Raton Airport, the National Weather Service forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 a.m., then a more active window late morning into early afternoon. Showers are likely and a thunderstorm is possible between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. After that, the pattern loosens up again, with another chance of showers and thunderstorms returning after 1 p.m.
It will not be a washout from start to finish, but the odds favor at least some rain. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent today. Rainfall totals are expected to stay on the lighter side for most spots, with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, except higher totals possible where thunderstorms train over the same neighborhood.
Temperatures stay seasonable for early March. Boca Raton’s high is expected to land near 78, with the air turning partly sunny as the day goes on. Along the I-95 corridor and down through Glades Road and Lyons Road, expect the same general theme: damp roads early, hit-or-miss downpours at times, then longer breaks where the sky opens up and the humidity hangs around.
Winds are light early but noticeable later. The forecast calls for a northeast wind at 5 to 11 mph. The broader South Florida discussion also points to a tightening pressure gradient heading into Monday, which is when the northeast breeze becomes more of a factor on the immediate east coast. If you are headed to the beach or out on the Intracoastal later today, you will feel that onshore push more than you did on Saturday.
For Sunday night, the chance of showers and thunderstorms sticks around. Conditions stay partly cloudy with a low around 68 and a northeast wind around 10 mph. Rain chances drop to 40 percent, but it is still the kind of night where a quick coastal shower can move in and out, especially closer to the water.
The bigger story in the regional forecast discussion is the setup over South Florida. Forecasters describe a decaying frontal boundary lingering over the area, keeping scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms possible at times today and Monday. Thunderstorm chances are expected to be strongest during the afternoon with daytime heating, but the discussion also notes coastal showers can linger overnight Sunday into Monday.
Beach conditions remain manageable today. The beaches outlook calls for a low risk of rip currents across all local beaches on Sunday, with the risk expected to increase early next week as breezy northeasterly flow develops.
On the marine side for the Boca area waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach, winds start relatively modest today but build late. For today, northeast winds 5 to 10 knots increase to 10 to 15 knots late, with seas 2 to 3 feet. The forecast also calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms until late afternoon, then only a slight chance late. Intracoastal waters are expected to run a moderate chop.
Tonight, northeast winds increase to around 15 knots with gusts up to 20 knots. Seas build to 3 to 5 feet, occasionally up to 6 feet, with moderate chop on the Intracoastal. That trend continues into Monday and beyond, with conditions trending toward choppy and rougher stretches in exposed areas as the wind and seas ramp up.

Wednesday: A steady onshore pattern with periodic showers. Mostly sunny with a high near 78 and a 40 percent chance of showers. East winds 13 to 15 mph with gusts up to 22 mph. Wednesday night brings a 30 percent chance of showers, low around 71, with east winds still in the low-to-mid teens.
Thursday: Similar theme, with showers and thunderstorms possible after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, high near 79, east wind 11 to 14 mph with gusts up to 21 mph. Rain chance 40 percent. Thursday night quiets slightly with a 20 percent chance of showers, low around 71.
Friday: Mostly sunny with a 40 percent chance of showers and a high near 80. Friday night drops to around 70 with a 20 percent chance of showers.
Saturday: Partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of showers and a high near 79.
