Today's Weather - Thursday, March 19, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Thursday will be partly sunny and noticeably breezy, with a high near 75 and north winds around 16–18 mph gusting to about 25 mph. Most of the daytime looks mainly dry, though a quick coastal shower can’t be ruled out late. Tonight turns mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and a few thunderstorms, especially late evening and overnight, with lows near 65. The high risk of rip currents continues for Atlantic beaches, and hazardous boating conditions remain in place offshore

Boca Raton’s weather today is being driven by a familiar late-winter setup: a broad dip in the jet stream over the eastern U.S. is keeping a steady push of cooler, drier air aimed into Florida, while high pressure to our north tightens the pressure difference and keeps winds up.

At the same time, a weak, stalled boundary is lingering well to our south near Cuba and the Bahamas, helping keep some extra clouds and moisture in the neighborhood. For Thursday, the National Weather Service expects the thicker cloud deck that’s been streaming in to gradually slide south through the morning, allowing for brighter breaks and better afternoon warming.

Even so, the atmosphere over South Florida isn’t getting a strong “lift” mechanism today, so widespread rain is not expected. That’s why daytime rain chances stay low overall, with only a small chance of a passing shower—most likely late in the day near the coast.

Tonight into Friday morning is the more active window. Moisture increases on the ocean breeze, and with brisk winds continuing, scattered showers are more likely to move in off the Atlantic.

Boaters and beachgoers should plan for rough conditions. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the Atlantic waters off Palm Beach County, including the Boca Raton area, with north to northeast winds around 20–25 knots and seas generally 5–9 feet, occasionally higher.

Conditions stay hazardous through at least Friday, with the intracoastal running choppy to rough in exposed areas. A few showers are possible today, with a better chance of showers and a few thunderstorms tonight into Friday morning.

Along the beach, a persistent north/northeast swell will keep a high rip current risk in place through the weekend—swim near lifeguards and avoid entering the surf if you’re not a strong swimmer.
