WEST PALM BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A pedestrian was killed Friday night in a hit-and-run crash along Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach, according to investigators.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. in the 4600 block of Okeechobee Boulevard. Investigators say the pedestrian was crossing the roadway southbound while pushing a shopping cart when a vehicle traveling eastbound approached.

According to investigators, the front of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was vaulted off the front corner of the vehicle. The vehicle continued eastbound and then turned into the Pine Trail Square plaza, where it fled the scene through the shopping center.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim was identified as Paul Feurer, 73.

Investigators say the driver did not stop after the crash and remains unidentified. The vehicle involved is described as a black Toyota RAV4, model years 2019 through 2025, with damage to the front passenger side bumper. The vehicle shown in the release is an exemplar image.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit released an exemplar image of a black Toyota RAV4 as investigators search for a vehicle believed to be involved in the fatal hit-and-run. The SUV is described as a 2019–2025 model with front passenger-side bumper damage. Authorities say the image is representative and not the actual vehicle.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
