BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — The Boca Raton Airport Authority officially opened its new Observation Area on January 28, 2025 to serve as a community space which unites educational activities with recreational activities and flight observation experiences.
The circular, open-air structure sits near the airport’s main grounds and offers visitors a 360-degree view of aircraft activity, from small private planes to business jets making their approach. The design unites contemporary airport design with protected resting spaces and illumination and wheelchair-accessible pathways to provide an inclusive environment for everyone who visits.
“This new Observation Area represents our commitment to the Boca Raton community,” said Clara Bennett, Executive Director of the Boca Raton Airport Authority, in a statement shared by the organization. “We’re not just building an Observation Area; we’re creating a space where aviation enthusiasts, families, and curious minds can come together to learn, observe, and be inspired by the wonders of flight.”
The perimeter features educational signs which present fundamental aviation information and details about the local airfield operations. The air traffic control tower broadcasts its live feed to visitors who want to experience the connection between sky observations and control room operations.
The new area functions as a free public space which remains open to visitors during daylight hours from sunrise until sunset. The space features ramps and weather-resistant elements which provide accessibility and comfort throughout all seasons.
The observation deck serves Boca Raton residents as a spot for observation. The airport facility provides a view into the aviation history of the city which continues to transform as the airport expands with the needs of its surrounding population.
The new Observation Area provides visitors with two options to experience the dynamic landmark of Boca Raton through either short afternoon visits or educational flights for young people.
