TAMARAC, FL (Boca Post) — BSO and U.S. Postal Inspector Service investigating after a USPS mail carrier was robbed at gunpoint in Tamarac on November 16th, 2022.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Robbery Unit and U.S. postal inspectors with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are investigating an armed robbery of a postal service letter carrier in Tamarac. They are asking for the public’s help in identifying the subject who was caught on surveillance video leaving the scene.

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, BSO district deputies responded to investigate an armed robbery incident. The preliminary investigation revealed a postal service letter carrier was working his mail delivery route near the 7000 block of Northwest 64th Court in Tamarac that afternoon. The postal worker was delivering mail on foot when he was approached by the subject requesting a package that is not on his route. The postal worker advised the subject that he does not deliver to the address he was requesting and proceeded to go back into his mail truck. That is when the subject confronted the postal worker with a semi-automatic handgun and asked for the carrier’s keys. The postal worker complied, and the subject fled the scene.

Investigators located video surveillance of the subject leaving the scene after the crime. In the video, he is seen leaving in a dark-colored sedan driven by a second subject. The subject is described as an adult male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, possibly in his 20’s. He was last seen wearing a grey hoodie, black pants, and a black facemask.

Anyone with information regarding the subject’s identity in this armed robbery is asked to contact BSO Robbery Detective Mark Copley at 954-321-4738.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two suspects responsible for the armed robbery of a USPS Letter Carrier on  November 16, 2022, in the vicinity of 7309 NW 64th Court, Tamarac, FL.

Suspect 1 is described as a Black male and was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt, black pants, with white sneakers. He fled to a dark 4-door sedan, where Suspect 2 was waiting; they both fled in the suspected vehicle. The vehicle is possibly a black 2014 or newer BMW 4 Series.

Armed robbery of a postal employee is a violation of Title 18, U.S. Code Section 2114, and is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
