BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Showers hang around into early afternoon, then Boca shifts into a high wind event with a freeze and dangerous wind chills overnight into Sunday morning.

Today’s Weather – Saturday, January 31, 2026

Boca Raton starts today in transition mode. The morning is not the main story. The afternoon and tonight are.

For the daytime hours, the National Weather Service forecast for the area near Boca Raton Airport calls for showers likely, mainly before 3 p.m. Skies stay mostly cloudy, and the temperature tops out near 63 degrees. The rain chance sits at 60 percent, with new rainfall amounts expected to be light, under a tenth of an inch.

Even with clouds and spotty showers, you are going to notice the wind first if you are out along the beaches, driving the I 95 corridor, or crossing east to west on Glades Road or Yamato. Forecast winds today run west at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 26 mph in the standard point forecast. Later today, the broader regional discussion emphasizes winds ramping up behind a strong cold front, with the potential for much stronger gusts into tonight and early Sunday.

That front is the pivot point. Once it moves through, the air turns drier and colder fast, and winds become a problem on their own. Loose patio furniture, trash cans, and anything not tied down in the backyard becomes a candidate to shift, tip, or blow around once the stronger gusts arrive.

Tonight is the coldest-feeling stretch of this forecast, and it lines up with active warnings. The Boca forecast calls for mostly clear skies overnight with a low around 34 degrees, but the more important number is how it feels. Wind chill values are forecast as low as 22. It also turns windy, with a northwest wind 28 to 32 mph and gusts up to 39 mph.

If you live closer to the Intracoastal, the wind will still cut. If you are west of Lyons Road or closer to the more open suburban stretches, you may feel it even more in exposed areas, especially late tonight and around daybreak Sunday. This is also the kind of night where outdoor plumbing and tender plants are at risk if not protected.

Sunday stays bright but does not warm much. The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 51, with wind chill values as low as 21 early. Winds remain up, with a northwest wind 16 to 22 mph and gusts as high as 31 mph. That means even in the afternoon, it will not feel like a typical sunny South Florida day.
