FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Fort Lauderdale’s Spring Break enforcement effort is producing a steady stream of arrests and citations, with new data offering a clearer look at who is being arrested, where incidents are happening, and what types of charges are driving police activity.

As of March 19, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department reported 38 arrests, alongside 1,025 traffic citations, during Spring Break 2026. The enforcement is concentrated along Fort Lauderdale Beach and the city’s downtown entertainment district, where officers have maintained an increased presence throughout the month.

A closer review of the department’s arrest log shows a mix of alcohol-related offenses, disorder-related charges, and traffic enforcement — with underage drinking standing out as a recurring issue.

Underage Drinking and Alcohol Enforcement

Seventeen arrests were handled by the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, all tied to violations of Florida Statute 562.11, which prohibits possession of alcoholic beverages by persons under 21.

Those cases were clustered along the beach corridor, particularly near addresses such as 17, 201, 213, and 219 South Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard. The repeated enforcement in those areas reflects a consistent focus on underage alcohol activity during peak Spring Break crowds.

In addition to the ABT arrests, Fort Lauderdale police issued multiple notices to appear for open container violations and underage possession, including several cases involving spring breakers at or near 219 South Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd.

Disorderly Conduct, Trespassing, and Theft

Another significant portion of arrests involved disorder-related charges. These included disorderly conduct, disorderly intoxication, trespassing, and theft — many of them tied to incidents in and around the same beachside blocks.

Several spring breakers were cited or arrested for trespassing at 219 South Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., with multiple entries over consecutive days. Theft-related charges also appeared in that same area, including cases involving alleged theft and trespassing tied to visiting individuals.

Battery-related charges were also present, including multiple cases involving battery on a law enforcement officer, as well as resisting with or without violence.

Traffic, DUI, and Warrant Cases

Traffic enforcement remains a major component of the city’s Spring Break strategy. In addition to more than 1,000 citations, several arrests stemmed directly from traffic stops or roadway incidents.

Those cases included DUI, DUI with property damage, careless driving, and driving with a suspended license. Other arrests were tied to outstanding warrants discovered during traffic stops or police encounters.

Intersections such as Cortez Street and A1A, along with Seabreeze Boulevard and Southwest 2nd Street, appeared repeatedly in enforcement logs tied to traffic violations and related arrests.

Who Is Being Arrested

The police data distinguishes between locals, visitors, and individuals identified as spring breakers, offering insight into who is driving enforcement activity.

Many arrests were attributed to local residents, particularly in cases involving traffic violations, warrants, narcotics, and disorder-related charges. Visitors not classified as spring breakers were also arrested in cases involving DUI and battery-related incidents.

Spring breakers, however, were most frequently associated with underage drinking, trespassing, theft, and disorderly conduct. Those arrests were heavily concentrated in the beachfront entertainment zone.

Concentration of Activity

The enforcement data shows a clear geographic pattern. A small stretch of Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard — especially the 200 block — appears repeatedly across multiple categories of arrests.

Locations including 219 South Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. and nearby properties were cited in numerous cases involving trespassing, underage drinking, disorderly conduct, and ABT enforcement. Other hotspots included 17, 201, and 213 South Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., as well as areas along Las Olas Boulevard and A1A.

What Residents and Visitors Should Know

Police are maintaining a visible presence in the beach corridor and downtown areas as Spring Break continues. The enforcement data indicates a focus on alcohol violations, disorderly behavior, and traffic safety, particularly in high-traffic nightlife zones.

Anyone needing assistance is advised to contact a uniformed first responder or call 911. Police are also asking the public to report suspicious activity as it occurs.

The figures reflect enforcement activity through March 19 and are expected to grow as Spring Break continues.

Boca Post primarily reports Boca Raton news, but major law enforcement incidents across Florida are also covered when they carry broader public safety implications for South Florida communities.
