LAKE WORTH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A bicyclist was critically injured Wednesday night after a hit-and-run crash on Davis Road in Lake Worth, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened around 7:41 p.m., after dark, along the 4100 block of Davis Road. A stretch locals know. Narrow in spots, not much room to drift.

Investigators say the bicyclist was riding southbound while a pickup truck was heading northbound on Davis Road. As the two approached each other, the bicyclist rode into the northbound lane and into the path of the truck.

The front of the pickup struck the front of the bicycle.

The impact knocked the bike over and threw the rider onto the roadway. Hard.

PBSO said the driver of the truck stopped briefly after the crash but then sped off northbound on Davis Road. No attempt to flag anyone down, no waiting for help. Just gone.

The vehicle is described as a white 2006–2007 Chevrolet pickup truck. Investigators have not identified the driver.

The bicyclist is a male and has not yet been identified. Deputies said he was not wearing safety equipment at the time of the crash. He was taken to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.

No arrests have been made. Charges are pending.

The crash remains under investigation by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Investigator Robert Stephan at 561-688-3400 and reference case number 25-124714, according to PBSO.

Someone out there saw something.

  1. The victim is a retired school teacher from the Boca area and my neighbor. I haven’t seen any updates on his condition since Wednesday. It appears he was transported to possibly JFK and now is in CCU at Delray Medical Trauma Center. Any updates would be appreciated
