BROWARD COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Broward Sheriff’s Office pretrial services and probation operations are scheduled for an outside review next month as part of a reaccreditation process.

A team of assessors from the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission (FCAC) will assess BSO’s Pretrial Services and Probation divisions for reaccreditation on April 1-2, 2026, according to a BSO news release issued March 6.

The assessors will examine BSO’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services. The divisions are required to comply with about 77 standards to receive accredited status. BSO said many of the standards relate to organization and management, reporting, release and supervision, and general safety issues.

The assessment team is expected to review written materials, interview individuals, and visit offices and other places where compliance can be witnessed.

After the review, the assessors will report back to the full Commission. The Commission then decides whether the agency receives accredited status.

BSO said a copy of the standards is available through BSO’s Public Information Office.

For residents in Palm Beach County who interact with pretrial services or probation systems, the review is a reminder that these programs are evaluated against statewide standards and that the accreditation decision sits with the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission after the on-site assessment.

People who want to offer written comments about BSO’s ability to meet the standards of accreditation, or who want more information about FCAC, can write to CFA, P.O. Box 1489, Tallahassee, FL 32302, or email [email protected].

The assessment is scheduled for April 1-2, 2026. The Commission’s decision comes after the assessors complete their review and submit their report.
