Victor Manuel Lopez Of Miramar Passed Away After Crash
WEST PARK, FL (Boca Post) — A large police and fire rescue response was observed early on New Year’s Day near the 5700 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard in West Park following a deadly motorcycle crash that killed a 39-year-old Miramar man.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a crash that left a Miramar man deceased on New Year’s Day.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:25 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, near the 5700 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard in West Park. According to investigators, the preliminary investigation revealed that Frantz Auguste was traveling westbound in a 2013 Toyota Sienna Yellow Cab minivan on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard. At the same time, Victor Lopez was also traveling westbound on a 2009 Kawasaki ER-6N motorcycle.
As traffic slowed in the area, Lopez failed to stop and struck the rear of Auguste’s Toyota. The impact ejected the motorcyclist off the Kawasaki and into the minivan’s rear window.
BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded, and the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Detectives say excessive speed is being considered a contributing factor to the crash. The investigation continues.
