UPDATE: Detectives Release Photo In Ongoing Homicide Investigation

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A homicide investigation is underway in unincorporated Central Broward after a man was shot late Monday night near the 900 block of Northwest 24th Avenue, and detectives are asking the public to help identify whoever was involved.

The victim was identified as Nathaniel Forrest, 35. Investigators say Forrest was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound after deputies responded to the area around 9:42 p.m. on Jan. 19.

Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives are now seeking information that could help them identify and locate the individual or individuals responsible. Broward Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

The incident began with technology. Investigators say deputies were notified after a ShotSpotter call in the area signaled possible gunfire. When deputies arrived near the 900 block of Northwest 24th Avenue, they located Forrest and immediately began life-saving measures at the scene, investigators said.

Forrest was transported by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue to Broward Health Medical Center. He was later pronounced dead, according to investigators.

Detectives have not identified any suspects. The incident is being handled as a homicide investigation, and detectives are working to determine who was responsible and what led up to the shooting.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen something in the area—before, during, or after the reported gunfire—or anyone who may have information about the people involved, to come forward. Even small details, including vehicles seen nearby or information shared after the fact, can help detectives narrow a timeline and identify leads.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit Detective Kevin White at 954-321-4215. Tips can also be submitted through the SaferWatch App.

For those who want to remain anonymous, Broward Crime Stoppers can be reached at 954-493-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or by dialing **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone in the United States.

Crime Stoppers said anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.

As this investigation develops, additional police activity updates are tracked on Boca Post’s public safety page.
