BSO Continues To Investigate Woman Struck And Killed By FEC Freight Train Wednesday Morning In Deerfield Beach.

DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — Broward Sheriffs Office is reporting one woman is dead after a train accident in Deerfield Beach near SE 4th St and South Dixie Highway.

Update – 1/21/22 – 1:25pm

BSO only says that they are still investigating the death of a woman who was hit by a FEC freight train on early Wednesday morning. BSO has confirmed that the as the woman apparently jumped into the freight train cars and was struck. BSO reports that the woman as pronounced deceased at the scene.

Update – 1/19/22 – 8:58am

BSO tells us that the eastbound and westbound lanes of 5th street just east of South Dixie Highway have re-opened since the earlier closure due to the investigation efforts.

Broward Sheriffs Office is reporting that dispatch received a call at approximately 3:54AM regarding what they call a ‘train versus pedestrian crash’ near SE 4th Street and S Dixie Highway in Deerfield Beach.

Responding deputies and fire rescue personnel found an injured woman who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Traffic Alert – Lanes Closed

As the investigation continues, deputies have closed both eastbound and westbound lanes of 4th street just east of South Dixie Highway.

From Broward Sheriffs Office:

At approximately 3:54 a.m., Broward Regional Communications received a call about a train versus pedestrian crash near Southeast Fourth Street and South Dixie Highway in Deerfield Beach. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded and located an injured adult female who was pronounced deceased on scene. BSO traffic homicide detectives were notified and are investigating the circumstances surrounding this crash. Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) and Railroad police were also contacted.
