LAKE WORTH, FL (Boca Post) — Layfun Moore Jr. of Boynton Beach was killed after his vehicle was struck by a Brightline Train on Friday, December 9th, 2022.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Moore was traveling eastbound on Washington Avenue, approaching the railroad crossing for the Brightline passenger train. At the same time, the Brightline passenger train was traveling northbound, approaching the intersection of Washington Avenue.

As the train approached, Moore drove past stopped traffic and around the activated railroad warning arms (lowered with lights flashing and alarm bell sounding), entered the railroad crossing, and violated the train’s right of way northbound.

Immediately upon entering the railroad crossing, Moore was struck by the train. During the collision, the front of the train impacted the passenger side of Moore’s Cadillac XTS, before throwing the Cadillac off the railroad crossing in a northwesterly direction where it came to final rest on the west side of the railroad tracks, north of the area of impact.

PBSO says that Palm Beach County Fire Rescue declared Moore deceased at the scene.
