Boca Raton Man Dies After Accidentally Shooting Himself While Cleaning His Gun

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A Boca Raton man has passed away after accidentally shooting himself while cleaning his gun early Wednesday morning.

First responders from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to the Brook Haven neighborhood near SW 18th Street and Military Trail in Boca Raton at approximately 3:45 AM this morning in response to a shooting.

First arriving Fire Rescue units then staged near where the shooting was reported on Santiago Circle while PBSO cleared the scene. Once the scene was secure, fire rescue personnel responded to care for the victim who was then declared deceased.

Boca Post has confirmed with Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office that the victim has died from a gunshot wound as a result of cleaning his firearm. This tragic accident never posed a threat to the community.

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Justin Haber.
