86-Year-Old Dies After Being Struck By Car At West Boca Hope Depot Parking Lot - Hermann Spiegel Passed Away

Hermann Spiegel, 86, Passed Away

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — 86-year-old Hermann Spiegel was run over by a car while using the crosswalk in front of the Home Depot at 9820 Glades Road in unincorporated Boca Raton.

The accident happened in front of the busy Home Depot in unincorporated Boca Raton at 5:45 PM on July 9th, 2023.

According to investigators, Erika Katherine Wilson was traveling southbound through the parking lot of 9820 Glades Road approaching a crosswalk. At the same time, 86-year-old Hermann Spiegel was crossing within the crosswalk located in front of the Home Depot, from east to west. Wilson was picking up a passenger.

As Wilson approached the crosswalk, her vehicle came to a stop. However, as Spiegel began to walk in front of Wilson’s car, she accelerated and struck Spiegel, throwing him to the ground.

Witnesses tell Boca Post that the vehicle was seen 10 feet passed where Wilson hit Spiegel.

Spiegel was transported to Delray Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Spiegel died the following day while in Hospice care.

PBSO has not stated why Wilson accelerated into Spiegel. At this time, PBSO indicates that there are no pending charges.

    • Delray Medical Center has a trauma unit. WBMC doesn’t have one.
