Johnnie Young Of Pompano Beach Passes Away After Deadly Pompano Beach Crash

POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that they are investigating a single-vehicle accident that killed 33-year-old Johnnie Young from Pompano Beach.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that at approximately 1:19 AM on Saturday, September 24th, 2022, deputies responded to the area of West McNab Road and South Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach in reference to a single-vehicle accident.

Responding BSO district deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue located a badly damaged Dodge Charger which apparently crashed into a tree.

BSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives were notified and began an investigation into the incident. Detectives tell us that the driver, Johnnie Young, was traveling eastbound in a 2010 Dodge Charger sedan on West McNab Road, approaching the intersection of South Dixie Highway. Investigators say that when the Charger proceeded straight through the intersection and off the roadway. The vehicle then struck a Florida East Coast Railway system gravel brim support and became airborne. The sedan cleared both sets of train tracks, landed on the east side of the tracks, and began to rotate and tumble before striking a tree and coming to a final rest.

BSO deputies responded to investigate. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue also responded, and Young was pronounced deceased on the scene by paramedics.

Detectives say excessive speed is considered a contributing factor to the crash. The investigation continues.
