The Broward Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit is sharing surveillance footage of a non fatal shooting incident that took place in Pompano Beach on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying all individuals involved.

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. Near the 1700 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The victim informed investigators that while walking in the area, several individuals approached him and engaged in a verbal dispute.

According to the victim, as he attempted to leave, three unknown individuals revealed their firearms by lifting their waistbands. In self defense, the victim drew his own gun and fired back as the subjects also discharged their weapons.

Surveillance footage captures the moment when five individuals approached the victim while he was walking on the sidewalk. Shortly after, gunfire erupted and all subjects fled from the scene.

Detectives have reported that three people were injured during this incident; the victim himself, an innocent bystander who happened to be shopping at a nearby store and another male individual. Paramedics from Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported the shopper to a local hospital for treatment, while the other two injured individuals made their way to the hospital independently. Fortunately, none of their injuries were life threatening.
