First Incident
Pompano Beach, FL – The Boca Post (BocaPost.com) (Copyright © 2021) — There were two different early morning incidents near 2700 North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach. One accident occurred where a vehicle struck a pedestrian. The other incident happened a little  later where an SUV was destroyed by a train.

The earlier incident, as reported by Broward Sheriff’s Office, occurred at approximately 1:30 AM at 2700 North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach. It is reported that a pedestrian, Gregory Halowach, was laying in the street when he was run over by Norval Howard, the driver of a 2021 Silverado, killing him at the scene.

It is reported that Howard didn’t know what was in the street but after he ran over the victim he pulled over and notified authorities once he realized he ran someone over. Halowach was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Broward Sheriff’s Office, preliminary investigations do not indicate speed or impairment are contributing factors.

Second Incident
A few hours later, not far from this accident, at the intersection of East Copans Road and North Dixie Highway, a SUV was hit my a train. The SUV appears to be totaled in the accident; however, witnesses have reported that the driver seems to be OK.

“She was just kind of in between the tracks and the road, and then the train just came and hit her,” one witness said. “I just ran to her and I tried to see if she was OK, but she was looking at me like she didn’t know what was going on.”

The vehicle is said to be totaled and was smoking after the wreck. No other injuries have been reported from this incident.
