POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — A tragic incident occurred in Pompano Beach that claimed the life of a pedestrian named Elena Mijajlovic.

The accident, which took place on Wednesday afternoon at around 4;22 p.m. On July 10, involved a collision between Howard Yontef, the driver of a 2014 Toyota Corolla and Elena Mijajlovic, who was walking in the area near Southeast 25th Avenue. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating this fatal crash that occurred on East Atlantic Boulevard.The vehicle hit Mijajlovic on the front driver’s side while she was in the right lane. Mijajlovic was taken by paramedics to Broward Health North, where she was pronounced dead shortly after. Yontef cooperated with investigators at the scene and no factors like impaired driving, speeding or mechanical issues were found to have contributed to the accident.

The investigation is still ongoing, according to BSO.
