PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Palm Beach County is marking March 2026 as Florida Bicycle Month, with county officials using the designation to highlight bicycling as both a recreational activity and a transportation option across the region.
The proclamation came from the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners and centers on the county’s growing network of bike-friendly infrastructure. Palm Beach County says residents and visitors now have access to about 300 miles of designated and enhanced bicycle facilities countywide, including scenic trails, paved pathways and natural surface routes.
The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department plays a central role in that effort. The department maintains year-round access to riding spaces designed for different ages and ability levels, giving families, recreational riders and other users places to bike throughout the county.
County officials said Florida Bicycle Month is intended to draw attention not only to exercise and outdoor recreation, but also to bicycling’s role in public health and everyday mobility. During March, the county encouraged people to explore local parks and trails, try new routes and follow safe riding habits.
“PBC Parks is proud to provide spaces where individuals and families can safely ride, exercise and connect with nature,” Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Cirillo said. “Florida Bicycle Month is a wonderful reminder of the many benefits biking brings to our physical health, mental well-being and overall quality of life. We invite everyone to explore our parks and trails this March and ride responsibly.”
The county’s message also extends beyond parks. Palm Beach County said the Parks and Recreation Department is working alongside the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization, Palm Beach County Engineering and Public Works, and other local agencies to expand bicycle connectivity and improve safety across the region.
Those efforts are aimed at building more bicycle-friendly communities while supporting broader county goals tied to health, tourism and transportation. County officials said improved bicycle infrastructure can help reduce roadway congestion and wear while making it easier for residents to move through the county without relying entirely on cars.
The proclamation serves as both recognition and a public reminder. For residents, the practical takeaway is straightforward: Palm Beach County wants more people using the bike network, but doing it responsibly. Officials urged bicyclists, including electric bicycle riders, to share facilities with other users, follow posted rules and keep safety in mind on trails and pathways.
That matters in a county where parks, multi-use paths and shared recreational spaces are used by walkers, runners, families and cyclists at the same time. The county’s position is that access and safety have to move together.
