BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — The Florida Department of Health reporting that the beach water near DuBois park in Jupiter may be a potential health hazard.

All Boca Raton and south county beaches are have been reported to have ‘Satisfactory’ beach water quality. In fact, the only beach that received ‘Poor’ rating was DuBois Beach in Jupiter.

If you are planning on going to the beach you may want to pick one of the local Boca Raton beaches which are all reported by Florida Department of Health to have ‘Satisfactory’.

The Florida Department of Health has reported that DuBois Park, a public beach in Jupiter, has a high level of Enterococci in the beach water which designated the beach as having ‘Poor’ water quality.

The increased bacteria levels could be due to excessive wildlife, heavy recreational usage, high surf from high winds, high tides, or runoff following heavy rains.

As always, the Department of Health Palm Beach recommends you always rinse off with fresh water after bathing any natural body of water.

Given DuBois’ current ‘Advisory’ status, DOH is advising that the body of water is outside of the EPA’s standard and is considered a potential health risk to anyone who may bath in the water.

The following local beaches near Boca Raton are reporting ‘Good’ water quality and ‘Satisfactory’ status by the Florida Department of Health:

  • Boynton Beach: Ocean Inlet Park
  • Delray Beach: Sandoway
  • Boca Raton: Spanish River
  • Boca Raton: South Inlet Park
