WEST PALM BEACH, FL — The name changes now. The airport code changes later.
Palm Beach International Airport was officially renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport on Thursday, July 9, according to the Palm Beach County Department of Airports. The three-letter PBI code used by airlines and passengers will stay in place until Aug. 18, 2026.
The county-owned commercial airport in West Palm Beach is the primary airport serving Palm Beach County, including Boca Raton and other South County communities. The county said the transition will not affect flights, airport services or the passenger experience.
Two aviation identifiers used by pilots and air traffic control changed effective Thursday, according to the county. The Federal Aviation Administration locational identifier is now DJT, and the International Civil Aviation Organization identifier is now KDJT. Those codes will be updated in official FAA and international publications.
Until Aug. 18, all flight searches, reservations, check-ins and baggage tracking should continue to use PBI or a search for "West Palm Beach," the county said.
The renaming does not change ownership, governance, legal status or operational control of the airport, according to the Palm Beach County Department of Airports. Palm Beach County will continue to oversee airport policies, finances and strategic decisions.
Updates to signage, branding and terminal materials will roll out in phases over the coming weeks, according to the county, which said it coordinated the transition with federal agencies, airlines and airport partners.
The airport website will continue to operate at pbia.org during the transition. Airport social media channels will be updated to reflect the new DJT branding in the coming days, the county said.
